FAQ's

What is Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT)?

This powerful therapeutic approach was created by Marisa Peer. I trained and qualified with her in person. RTT uses evidence-based techniques to provide individuals with the tools they need to make positive change. Drawn from areas of traditional psychotherapy like Gestalt, Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Internal Family Systems, RTT enables and empowers clients to reframe negative or limiting beliefs, values, habits and emotions – many of which have been carried since childhood.

RTT® is accredited by the following bodies:

Accredited Counsellors, Coaches, Psychotherapists, and Hypnotherapists (ACCPH)
Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ASCH)
Dutch Association of Hypnotherapists (Nederlandse Beroepsvereniging van Hypnotherapeuten)
General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR)
International Association of Counsellors and Therapists (IACT)
International Coaches Register (ICR)
International Hypnosis Association (IHA)
International Hypnosis Federation (IHF)
International Institute for Complimentary Therapists (IICT)
New Zealand Association of Professional Hypnotherapists (NZAPH)

Is hypnotherapy safe?
Yes. Hypnotherapy is a safe, natural process that uses focused attention and relaxation — states you already experience every day, such as when driving home on autopilot or becoming absorbed in a book. You remain aware, in control, and able to stop the session at any time. I work within evidence-based frameworks and ethical professional standards to ensure your wellbeing is always the priority.
Is hypnotherapy scientifically supported?

Modern Hypnotherapy is grounded in psychology and neuroscience. Research shows that hypnosis can positively influence attention, perception, emotional regulation, habits, and performance. Clinical Hypnotherapy is routinely used alongside approaches such as CBT, sports psychology, visualisation, meditation, pain management and other branches of behavioural science, and is increasingly recognised within mainstream healthcare and performance settings.

Will I lose control or be made to do something against my will?
No. Hypnosis is not mind control. You cannot be made to do or say anything that goes against your core values, beliefs, or intentions. Hypnotherapy works through collaboration — you are actively involved, and your subconscious only accepts suggestions that align with your goals and values.
What does hypnosis feel like?
No trances! That word is misleading. Most people describe hypnosis as deeply relaxed yet mentally focused — like meditation or a ‘flow’ state. You may feel calm, clear, and absorbed, but you can still hear, speak, and think throughout.
Does hypnotherapy work online as well as in person?

Yes. Studies and clinical experience show that hypnotherapy is just as effective online as it is face-to-face. Because hypnosis relies on attention, imagination, and communication — not physical touch — working online often enhances comfort, focus, and results. Many clients prefer sessions online because they are sitting in their own familiar safe environment, no time is wasted travelling, and yet they still benefit from being guided by a friendly professional.

What kinds of issues can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy can support a wide range of goals, including stress and anxiety, confidence, phobias, performance, motivation, habits, emotional regulation, and mindset shifts. As well as any associated physical ailments. It is not about ‘fixing’ you — it’s about teaching you to get your mind working more effectively for you.

Hypnosis is NOT suitable for schizophrenia, psychosis or bi-polar conditions.

Who uses hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is widely used by elite athletes, performers, executives, entrepreneurs, and high achievers. They find it to be a powerful tool for improving confidence, focus, emotional resilience, habit change, and performance under pressure. Here are some examples:

Adele – for performance, weight loss, smoking

Albert Einstein – for scientific breakthroughs, inspiration

Bruce Willis – for stuttering, stage fright

Catherine, Princess of Wales – for morning sickness, labour and childbirth

David Beckham – for sporting performance, negative thoughts

Jessica Alba – for childbirth

Kevin Bacon – for insomnia

Orlando Bloom – for sugar cravings, chocolate, weight control

Reese Witherspoon – for low self-esteem, panic attacks

Shelby Sapp – for million-dollar sales, business goals

Tiger Woods – for focus, self-belief

Tony Robbins – for motivational speaking, millionaire goals

Winston Churchill – for wartime stress, concentration

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on your goals, history, and responsiveness. Most clients experience meaningful change in one session, while others benefit from a short course of work. We will discuss expectations clearly, and sessions are always tailored to you — it’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.
